Very positive

5 reviews: 4 positive, 1 mixed, 0 negative. 5 of 5 recommend it.

Every reviewer rates the design positively and recommends the watch. Most single out the well-judged colour scheme, the slim, compact case and fair pricing for the quality on offer. Most also find the dial calm despite the GMT scale, with the green GMT hand tying in neatly with the 24-hour ring and strong, even vintage-toned lume.

Where they differ. Finishing divides opinion: a couple of reviewers feel the build is well above its class, while one noticed a misaligned numeral on the GMT bezel. Some also found the supplied straps stiff, and one reported the rotor winding inefficiently enough to cause stoppages.

Christopher Ward C65 Dune GMT Review - The Perfect Travel Watch?

Video, 14 minOwner's reviewJan 2025

Very positiveRecommends, with caveats

After a couple of years of travel with it, the reviewer calls this a fantastic, understated, well-finished GMT with an excellent bracelet and lume. The main caveat is that the SW330 needs thorough hand winding, or it can stop or lose time.

Comparing the new Christopher Ward C65 Dune GMT with the Automatic Version

ArticleComparisonJun 2024Rob Nudds

PositiveRecommends, with caveats

The reviewer finds the Dune GMT an ambitious, successful evolution. Its olive accent colour and well-integrated GMT layout make it rugged and distinctive, though less versatile than the time-only Automatic. They would narrowly choose the GMT and think owning both is justifiable.

Suits: Collectors with several watches wanting a rugged, adventure-oriented GMT

What the review says, point by point
Designpositive
  • Considers the olive green accent a well-chosen addition that keeps the watch's impact.
  • Sees the GMT as the more ambitious and successful model thanks to its rare colourway.
  • Notes the new colour scheme makes ruggedness the watch's defining character.
Dialpositive
  • Finds the green chapter ring makes the watch look much smaller.
  • Thinks the chapter ring ties in well with the green-tipped GMT hand.
  • Finds the layout calm and balanced despite the extra elements in the same space.
Case & proportionspositive
  • Admires the oversized crown.
  • Finds the case impressively compact.
Versatilitymixed
  • Believes the GMT gives up some of the Automatic's versatility for an adventure focus.
  • Sees it as ideal for rugged settings but ill-suited to formal ones.
Functionalitypositive
  • Finds that the shared green links GMT hand and chapter ring, making them easier to use.
Originalitypositive
  • Feels the overall look stands apart from nearly everything else available.
Valuepositive
  • Finds the brand's direct business model makes its pricing hard to fault.
  • Argues the brand now competes with Hamilton, Certina and Longines on credibility, boosting purchase confidence.
Compared with
  • Christopher Ward C65 Dune Automatic: Torn, but would lean to the GMT despite it being less versatile.
  • Baltic Hermetique: Suggested as a sandy time-only companion to the Dune GMT.
  • Laventure Marine II: Suggested as a sandy time-only companion to the Dune GMT.

Christopher Ward C65 Dune GMT // Watch of the Week. Review 202

Video, 5 minReactionMar 2024

Very positiveRecommends

Sees the GMT version as an upgrade to the already strong C65 Dune. The green 24-hour scale adds a new function and fixes the earlier dial's lack of contrast. Design, finishing and case shaping are praised, and it's judged a very good deal despite a price premium.

Not a review of the watch in hand (news, a guide or a reaction), so it isn't counted.

What they said, point by point
Dialpositive
  • Green GMT scale fixes the original sand dial's poor legibility by adding contrast. 1:34
  • Considers the hand lengths ideal, with the short hour hand matching the longer indices. 2:31
  • Would prefer only the GMT hand's triangle in green rather than half the hand. 2:31
Designpositive
  • Finds all design elements bold and big yet balanced. 2:03
  • Nothing feels oversized despite maximised proportions. 2:03
  • Notes the GMT look is less puristic, expecting many to like it. 1:34
Finishing & buildpositive
  • Praises the polishing on minor details such as index frames and hands. 3:00
  • Says the brand's quality has been consistently free of sloppiness. 3:00
Case & proportionspositive
  • Appreciates facets that remove material, keeping the watch fairly lightweight. 3:30
  • Feels the case shaping avoids the boxy look of simpler constructions. 3:59
Valuepositive
  • Notes the price jump exceeds the movement's added cost, increasing the brand's margin. 3:59
  • Considers it still a very good deal given all the components. 3:59
Compared with
  • Christopher Ward C65 Dune (non-GMT): GMT adds function and contrast; non-GMT keeps a purist charm and costs less.
