Sea Sky Revival

00.20212.112.01.10140mmautomatic$4,350 list priceAnnounced September 2024

A 40mm steel automatic chronograph from the relaunched Favre Leuba, based on the brand's 1960s Sea Sky diver/pilot chronograph, with a reverse-panda tri-compax dial, tachymeter and telemeter scales and a unidirectional ceramic countdown bezel. It uses the column-wheel FLC01 calibre, derived from La Joux-Perret's L112, and is water resistant to 100m.

Very positive

5 reviews: 5 positive, 0 mixed, 0 negative. 5 of 5 recommend it.

Every reviewer rates the dial and movement positively, and most single out the column-wheel calibre as a cut above the norm, with crisp pusher action. Most also praise the sensible, comfortable sizing, the legible layout despite a busy dial, the grippy bezel, high-quality finishing and strong specification for the money. All recommend it.

Where they differ. Originality is the one soft point. Some reviewers see the watch as a faithful reinterpretation of the archival original, while one finds it generic among retro chronographs. Isolated notes that the case sits a little tall and that a bracelet option is wanted remain minority views.

The Favre Leuba Sea Sky Revival is (almost) the Real Vintage Deal

ArticleNewsNov 2024Rebecca Doulton

PositiveRecommends, with caveats

Views the Sea Sky Revival as a charming, remarkably faithful revival of the 1960s ref. 33033 with modern materials. The main reservations are the thick case and the choice of a 7750-derived automatic movement over a Valjoux 72.
