IWC

Ingenieur Automatic 42

IW33890342mmautomatic$19,500 list priceAnnounced April 2025

The first Ingenieur with both case and integrated bracelet in black zirconium oxide ceramic: a 42mm version of the Gérald Genta-derived design with a black 'grid' dial and date. It uses IWC's in-house calibre 82110 with Pellaton winding instead of the 32111 found in the 40mm steel and titanium models.

Creator Consensus

Very positive

5 reviews: 5 positive, 0 mixed, 0 negative. 4 of 5 recommend it.

Most reviewers are impressed by the extensive ceramic construction. Several note that it keeps the watch light for its size and manages metal-like mixed finishing. Every reviewer rates its originality positively, with several calling it a standout within the Ingenieur range. Several also praise the legible lume and the colour-matched black date window.

Where they differ. Value is the unsettled point. The reviewers who discuss it find the premium over the steel models steep, though they also feel the complex ceramic build goes some way to justifying it. The movement draws some praise as a capable in-house calibre, but one reviewer regrets its shorter power reserve than the 40mm models.
